Welcome to the Bendigo Valley Sports & Charity Foundation!

November 2023

It is with regret that the Trustees announce that this trust has now wound up due to circumstances beyond their control.

From its inception in 1987 to today it has been our privilege to support Dunedin for the past  36 years.

In particular, the children of Dunedin, through all schools, kindergartens and playcenters. We have a special fondness for the kids of today and have been very proud to support so many to attend school camps, special needs, library books, sports uniforms, supplying bikes to teach kids to ride, swimming lessons for thousands, transport for school activities, music lessons, ipads and IT gear and so much more.

Another very worthwhile cause was Friends of Children in Hospital as well as The Vera Hayward Clinic. Many people would not be aware of what the people that work here do but they work with very sick children as well as children with severe disabilities. Special people doing a special job. In conjunction with The Mercy Hospital, we also paid for hundreds of operations on children that could have waited possible years to be seen due to waiting times.

We have also granted money to every sports club over the years and once again tried to promote the youth side of sport as much as we could.

The community was always at the forefront of the grants approved.

Organisations such as the Surf Life Saving, Theatre, Epilepsy, Performing Arts, Search and Rescue, Men’s Night Shelter, Women’s Refuge, Otago Rescue Helicopter, Otago Community Hospice, Therapeutic Pool, Cancer Society, Diabetes, ME Society, Alzheimer’s, Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinsons, Multiple Sclerosis, Brain Injury, Autism, Mental Health, Plunket, Pregnancy Help, Special Olympics, Youthline, Animal Rescue, RSA, Chatbus, Canteen, Masters Games, Edmund Rice Camps, Heart Kids, Wildlife Hospital.

In fact, the list is endless.

Please make sure you continue to apply to the Trusts that still have money to distribute to the local community. It is their job to look after the community now.
